Thrissur: A mahout died in an attack by a tusker at Guruvayoor Anakotta (Elephant Fort). The second mahout, AR Ratheesh, lost his life in an attack by a single tusker named Guruvayoor Chandrasekharan.

He was rushed to a private hospital in Thrissur with severe injuries and could not be saved.
The events transpired today while the first mahout was on leave. When Ratheesh came to provide water, the elephant became agitated and attacked him.
The 60-year-old, one-horned tusker, Guruvayoor Chandrasekharan, had been relocated to Anakotta under the Guruvayoor Devaswom Board due to his aggressive behavior. He was returned to the temple on November 1st, after 26 years.
