Owner nabbed for setting supermarket on fire for insurance claim

A shop owner has been nabbed for in setting fire to his own shop in an attempt to claim insurance money in Wayanad. Arrested owner identified as Mohammad Rauf (29), a resident of Valat, Wayanad, was arrested. He setting fire to the Grand Supermarket located in Thalappuzha town. He confessed his crime to the police and was subsequently produced in court and remanded.

The incident took place on February 26. On that day, fire and rescue services personnel, along with the police, promptly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire with the assistance of local residents. Their swift intervention prevented a major disaster.

During the police investigation, it was revealed that the shop owner had intentionally set the fire himself. Consequently, he was arrested and produced in court.
