The Malpe police in Udupi have identified the mother of a newborn baby found dead in a toilet on the Jamia Masjid premises in Malpe.
According to a complaint filed by Suhel, the manager of Jamia Masjid, a toilet was constructed on the premises for laborers working on a two-storeyed building.
On April 14, Suhel discovered the newborn’s body in the toilet, prompting him to file a complaint with the Malpe police.

The police registered a case under Section 94 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body.
After investigation, the police identified the mother, Ayesha, who gave a confessional statement detailing the events surrounding the incident.

Ayesha stated that she had given birth to the child in the toilet after attempting to terminate her pregnancy without medical assistance. She abandoned the baby and left the premises.
Ayesha is currently hospitalized, and after her discharge, the police will take necessary legal action, said Superintendent of Police K. Arun, adding that action will also be taken against those spreading false information on social media about the incident.
