Bengaluru Woman Brutally Assaulted Outside Mosque After Husband Files Complaint Over Domestic Dispute

A 38-year-old woman in Bengaluru was allegedly assaulted by a group of men after her husband filed a complaint against her at a local mosque over a domestic issue. The violent incident took place outside the Jama Masjid in Tavarekere and was caught on camera, sparking widespread outrage on social media.

The victim, Shabina Banu, who works as a house help, was reportedly at home on April 7 when her relative, Nasreen, came to visit. During this time, a man named Fayaz also visited her house. According to officials, the three later went out briefly before returning to Shabina’s residence.

Later that day, Shabina’s husband, Jameel Ahmed, returned home and was reportedly angered to find both Nasreen and Fayaz still at the house. Upset over the situation, Jameel decided to take the matter to the local mosque.

He approached the Jama Masjid in Tavarekere and filed a complaint against his wife, her relative Nasreen, and the man named Fayaz. The complaint was related to what he claimed was inappropriate conduct on his wife’s part.

Two days later, on April 9, Shabina, Nasreen, and Fayaz were summoned to the mosque following the complaint. They complied and arrived at the location as requested.

However, upon arrival at the mosque, a mob of six men allegedly confronted Shabina. The group is accused of violently attacking her with sticks and metal pipes, leaving her severely injured.

The assault was recorded on camera and widely shared online, prompting public anger and calls for accountability. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the brutal attack.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Niyaz (32) – a driver, Mohammad Gauspeer (45) – a scrap dealer, Chand Basha (35) – a sugarcane juice vendor, Dastagir (24) – a bike mechanic, Rasool T R (42) a fisherman at Bukkambudi Lake, and Inayat Ullah (51) – a local resident.

All six accused were arrested shortly after the video of the incident went viral. A case has been filed against them under charges related to conspiracy, assault, and attempted murder, officials said.
