At least six people were killed and 31 injured in a blaze that razed through a seven-storeyed building in Mumbai’s Goregaon West early on Oct. 6
The fire explosion was reported at 3.05 am on Friday at the Jay Bhavani building situated near Azad Maidan in Goregaon West.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said that the fire was confined to the shops on the ground floor, scrap materials and several vehicles parked in the vicinity. It was extinguished over three hours later, at around 6.45 am.
Medical officers at Cooper Hospital said that of those injured, 14 have been taken to the said hospital, of which the condition of two are critical.
In a bid to extinguish the fire, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) used eight fire engines, five jumbo tankers, a water tank, a turntable ladder (TTL) and a quick reaction vehicle to assist in the relief process.
