Customs seizes gold worth Rs 61 lakh from Kannur airport

Kannur: In a recent operation at Kannur International Airport, customs officials recovered a significant quantity of gold. They successfully seized 995 grams of gold, worth Rs 61 lakh. The illicit gold was discovered in the possession of Abdul Rishad, a resident of Kozhikode who had arrived at Kannur airport from Riyadh.

This incident follows a similar gold seizure at Cochin International Airport, where customs authorities seized gold valued at Rs 26 lakh from an individual who had hidden it within his innerwear.

The culprit, identified as Muhammad Rashim, had arrived from Abu Dhabi and attempted to smuggle 499 grams of gold in the form of four chains concealed within his clothing.
