10 Indian Workers Rescued from West Bank by Israeli Authorities

In a daring overnight operation, Israeli authorities rescued 10 Indian workers who were stranded in the Palestinian village of A-Za’im, near Jerusalem. The workers were lured to the village with promises of employment, but their passports were confiscated by a resident, leaving them trapped.

Indian Embassy in Israel said on X, “Israeli authorities traced 10 missing Indian construction workers to West bank and have brught them back to Israel. While the matter is still under investigation, the Embassy is in touch with the Israeli authorities and have requested to ensure their saftey and well being.”

According to reports, the workers were held captive for over a month before the Population and Immigration Authority launched the rescue operation. The Israeli authorities worked in coordination with the IDF and the Justice Ministry to secure the workers’ release.

The rescue operation is a significant development, especially since thousands of Indian workers have arrived in Israel in the past year to work in the construction sector. Interior Minister Moshe Arbel has assured that his office will take necessary steps to safeguard the workers’ rights and integrate them into Israel’s labor market.
