In another horrifying incident of rape, a 40 -year-old man allegedly raped a 20-year-old girl while travelling on a local train in Maharashtra’s Mumbai.
The woman was raped on Wednesday morning in a moving local train in the ladies’ compartment.
The assault took place between the Masjid station and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station early in the morning around 7:26 am. After the girl who was travelling alone started screaming, the man fled the scene.
The girl approached the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and filed a complaint. According to the police, the accused was arrested eight hours after the incident. The man who worked as a daily wager was booked under several Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including a rape charge.
The man was identified after the police scanned the CCTV cameras at the Masjid station. He was nabbed after a joint team of the RPF and the Mumbai Police launched a search operation.
The police said that the accused is being interrogated and will be produced before the court on Thursday. A detailed probe into the incident is underway.
