Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, who became a household name in India as the superhero Shaktimaan, is set to reprise his legendary role. On Monday, Khanna spoke to ANI, expressing his excitement and deep bond with the character, revealing that bringing Shaktimaan back to the screen is both a privilege and a responsibility.
“This costume is not just an outfit—it’s part of me,” Khanna remarked. “I feel like Shaktimaan comes from within, which is why I’ve always connected with the role. When I’m in front of the camera, I lose myself in the character, completely confident in its power.” He shared his delight in reviving the hero who inspired millions, saying, “I’m even happier than the fans to become Shaktimaan again.”
Khanna reflected on his original mission when the show first aired on Doordarshan in 1997, running for over 450 episodes until 2005.
Khanna shared a teaser poster on Instagram, sparking excitement for the hero’s return. In the teaser, Shaktimaan flies into a school and stands before portraits of Indian freedom fighters, singing about freedom. Shaktimaan’s resurgence promises a nostalgic journey for old fans and a fresh start for new viewers, eager to embrace India’s first superhero once again.
