FIR registered against hospital for administering expired medicine to 3-year-old girl

An FIR was registered against Sanjeevini Hospital doctor and staff after a three-year-old girl was administered expired medicine by the hospital staff.

The FIR was filed by victim Yadvi’s father Kiran J at the Mahalakshmipuram Police Station. According to the FIR, staff at Sanjeevini Hospital administered expired medicine named multiple electrolytes and dextrose.

A nurse at the hospital administered a medicine which had expired two months ago to the girl. Yadvi’s parents staged a protest in front of the hospital after she allegedly suffered rashes in her mouth because of the side effects of expired medicine.

Yadvi’s father Kiran wrote to the Mahalakshmi Layout Medical Officer seeking action against the hospital for administering expired medicine. Yadvi was shifted to another hospital following the incident where recovered after the treatment. The girl was admitted to the hospital because of a fever.

Dr Sahana, a Pediatrician from the hospital informed the media that a nurse and a pharmacy staff were suspended after conducting an internal enquiry about the incident.
