Chikkamagaluru to Introduce Heli-Tourism for Year-End Visitors

Tourists heading to Chikkamagaluru during the Christmas holidays can look forward to an exciting new experience: heli-tourism. The district administration is planning to offer aerial tours, providing a breathtaking perspective of Chikkamagaluru’s famed hills and valleys.

With over 1,500 registered homestays and an equal number of unregistered ones, Chikkamagaluru expects a surge in visitors during the holiday season. Many accommodations are already fully booked, indicating high demand. Heli-tourism aims to add another dimension to the district’s offerings, enhancing the overall tourist experience.

While the initiative has generated excitement, wildlife conservationists have expressed concerns about potential disturbances to local fauna. They argue that helicopter noise could affect animals and birds in the region’s ecologically sensitive areas.

A homestay owner commented, “Heli-tourism will provide visitors with a special way to explore Chikkamagaluru’s natural beauty while boosting the local tourism industry.”

If approved, heli-tourism could become a unique attraction in Chikkamagaluru, blending adventure with the serenity of its picturesque landscapes. Authorities will need to strike a balance between promoting tourism and preserving the district’s ecological integrity.
