A 19-year-old was stabbed to death by the father of her girlfriend following a verbal altercation. The deceased is Arunkumar, son of Iravipuram native Shiju. The accused, Prasad, a resident of Saravana Nagar in Iravipuram, surrendered at Sakthikulangara Police Station.
The incident occurred at 6 pm, September 20, at Valiyakavu Nagar in Irattakkada. Father of girlfriend opposed for their relationship.
Prasad had recently moved his daughter to a relative’s house in Irattakkada. Nevertheless, the young man pursued her, attempting to meet with her, which culminated in a fierce quarrel on the phone.
Following this, Prasad invited Arun Kumar to discuss the issue, and Arun arrived at the house in Irattakkada with friends. During the conversation, an argument ensued, and in a fit of rage, Prasad grabbed a nearby knife and stabbed Arun in the chest. Although Arun was immediately admitted to the district hospital and later to a private hospital in Kollam, he could not be saved. Sakthikulangara police have registered a case.
