Lucknow: An incident of triple talaq has been reported as a man divorced wife, after not being given a 7-seater car and Rs 10 lakh cash in dowry.
Case filed against Husband
Based on the complaint of the victim, the UP Police has filed a case under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019, popularly known as the triple talaq law.
The victim and the accused have been identified as Farheen and Faisal Hasan.
According to a report in Aaj Tak, In 2019, Farheen got married to Faisal, a resident of UP’s Azamgarh. He had then received a car and Rs 25 lakh in cash as dowry.
In a statement, the police official said that Farheen’s in-laws took possession of jewellery and started making more demands for dowry. Their demands included a 7-seater luxury car and Rs 10 lakh in cash.

“After being denied, Farheen’s husband and in-laws assaulted and tortured her. Farheen returned to her parents after being thrown out by her in-laws. She was never asked to return by her in-laws,” an officer said.
“Faisal gave the victim triple talaq at the mediation centre following which the complaint was received,” the officer added.
“A police case has been filed against five persons, including the victim’s husband, under relevant Sections and the probe is currently underway,” Aaj Tak quoted DCP North Zone Kasim Abdi as saying.
