BENGALURU: August 1st onwards the price of Nandini Milk have been to increase by Rs 3 per litre. The state government has approved the Karnataka Milk Federation’s (KMF) proposal for an increase in prices, but denied approve the Rs 5 hike sought by the federation.
A meeting was held in the city on Friday between CM Siddaramaiah and the KMF president and associated milk unions. The government has approval to increase the price of milk. The price of regular Nandini toned milk is Rs 39 per litre and the new price will now be Rs 42.
Earlier, the KMF had demanded an increase of Rs 5 per litre on the selling price to boost milk procurement. At the end of the meeting, the government finalised Rs 3 per litre hike.
Commenting on the milk price hike, MLA H D Revanna said there was a proposal for a price hike of Rs 5 and the CM has agreed to a hike of Rs 3 per litre. The hiked amount should be passed on to dairy farmers, he said.
