Christopher Nolan’s new film ‘Oppenheimer’ premiered in big-screen cinemas worldwide. The biopic by the director, starring Cillian Murphy, has drawn a lot of attention in India as well, particularly for bringing up the sacred text Bhagavad Gita.
This movie very centric to J. Robert Oppenheimer, a physicist who is credited with creating the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer was the head of Los Alamos Laboratory and a key player in the Manhattan Project, an initiative by the government to carry out research into the making of nuclear weapons.
Murphy stated that he had read the Hindu holy scripture for the movie before it was released. Unexpectedly, it appeared in an intimate scene in the movie.
The sequence didn’t sit well with viewers, who questioned the CBFC for allowing the release of this movie without removing a scene that would offend religious sentiments.
Viewers have taken to Twitter to voice their anger at the film’s sex scene featuring the Bhagavad Gita.
