Cyclone Alert: Heavy Rain Warning in 11 States

Several states in the country are set to experience a cold wave, with warnings issued. People are taking out warm clothes and blankets.

However, significant weather changes are still anticipated in many regions. Currently, Northern India is covered in a thick blanket of fog during this winter season.

In contrast, Southern and Northeastern India are witnessing thunderstorms and rain. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cyclone warning. Snowfall has been reported in parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Sudden weather changes are expected, possibly due to a cyclone. This week, various changes in weather conditions are likely. According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation has formed over the southeastern Indian Ocean and adjoining areas of the South Andaman Sea, extending up to the mid-troposphere. This may lead to the formation of a low-pressure area.

It is expected to move west-northwest towards the southeastern Bay of Bengal. A low-pressure area is likely to form over the central parts of the Bay of Bengal within the next two days. IMD has issued rain warnings for 11 states. Coastal states have been put on alert, with predictions of heavy rains and strong winds.

Between November 23 and 28, light to moderate rainfall is expected in many states and union territories, with heavy rainfall in some areas. Key regions likely to be affected include the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry.

On November 25 and 26, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam may experience rain with thunderstorms. Additionally, hailstorms are expected in parts of Meghalaya on November 22. Thick fog is also likely late at night and early in the morning across various northern parts. Maharashtra, particularly Western Maharashtra and Konkan, may experience intense cold.
